Structural solutions: our work
Apartment blocks, heritage facades, banks, substations and family homes. Here's a selection of the structural repairs we've carried out across Western Australia.
Maddison Heights, Maylands
This seven-storey block of more than 95 apartments needed a major upgrade. We replaced lintels over a number of windows and doors where the existing steel had badly corroded. We used Helifix structural repairs to reconnect the balcony walls, stitched cracked brickwork, repaired movement joints and repointed large areas of the building.

The Depot by Psaros
The original facade of this building, over 100 years old, had to be kept and made safe while new apartments were built behind it. We used Helifix reinforcements to secure the facade to the new structure, formed new door openings within the facade, laid coping stones to the original facade and the new garage area, and reinstated the brickwork.

ANZ Bank, Beverley
The walls of the ANZ Bank in Beverley were severely cracked after water washed out the ground beneath the foundations. We underpinned the footings to stop any further movement, then installed Helifix crack stitching and beaming to tie the masonry back together.

Halls Head Apartments
These apartments in Halls Head, Mandurah, had severely cracked brickwork and badly corroded lintels. We stitched the wall with Helifix to stop any further movement, removed and replaced the damaged bricks, and installed new lintels in place of the corroded originals.

Fremantle Cemetery & Dale Alcock
We installed Helifix wall ties at Fremantle Cemetery for Northerly Construction, and carried out wall tie installation for Dale Alcock. Stainless steel remedial ties tie the outer leaf of brickwork back to the structure behind.

Water Corporation Substation
Corroded lintels were replaced at a Water Corporation substation in Perth. The old steel had rusted so badly that it was lifting the brickwork above the openings.

Concrete Cancer Beam Repair
The reinforcement inside this exposed aggregate concrete beam had rusted and blown the concrete off along the bottom edge. We cut back to sound concrete, treated the exposed steel with a rust-inhibiting primer, and rebuilt the section in keyed layers of repair mortar back to the original profile.

Bowing, Parapet & Boundary Walls
We reconnected a bowing wall to the main roof with Helifix so it can't move any further, stabilised a long parapet wall, and secured a cracked boundary wall with the Helifix stitching system.

Crack Stitching, Start to Finish
A typical Helifix crack repair, step by step. A long vertical crack through a rendered brick wall is opened up, the mortar joints are cut out, and HeliBars are bonded across the crack. Then the wall is re-rendered and is ready to paint. The same method is used on internal walls.

Helifix work in the UK, still standing
Before Bowsan, John supervised Helifix installations for Mayson Brothers, an approved installer in Cumbria. Photos taken in 2013, more than a decade after the work, showed no further movement.

Whitehaven Sports Centre, Cumbria UK
Brickwork on one side of the building blew down in a storm because of inadequate wall ties. Helifix wall ties were installed to the whole sports centre, along with crack stitching and new movement joints, around 2001. Photographed again in 2013: no further movement.

St Andrews Church, Lake District UK
The church was badly damaged by piling for a nearby college extension. John supervised the Helifix beaming, crack stitching and the rebuilding of the turrets, then the tower was wrapped in Helifix to prevent future movement (2002–03). Still no movement in 2013.
